    Hospital Profile

    We provide comprehensive acute care and receive referrals from various doctors and hospitals.
    The following are the major facilities provided in the hospital :-

    Accident & Emergency Department
    About 2/3 of admissions to the hospital are admitted through the Accident & Emergency Department. This Department is headed by a Chief of Service. The daily average number of attendance for 1994 was 615.5 and the highest number of attendances recorded on one day was 699 cases.

    Clinical Departments
    There are 13 clinical departments in the hospital, each being headed by a Chief of Service. The range of specialties includes Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Orthopaedics & Traumatology, Neurosurgery, Anaesthesia and Thoracic Surgery. The clinical departments also attend to cases in the first and second class private wards and the custodial ward. There are four other departments (i.e. Eye, ENT, Skin and Dental) each with a small number of beds and under the care of respective Consultants/Chief of Service who also have duties in other public hospitals and clinics.

    Special Departments and Supporting Services
    The hospital has three special departments, namely, Radiology, Radiotherapy and Oncology and Pathology housed in the respective institutes and each headed by a Chief of Service, and other supporting services such as Central Sterile Supplies, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Prosthetic and Orthotic, Clinical Psychology, Central Endoscopy Unit, Electro-Diagnostic Unit, Laundry and Kitchen etc.

    Operating Theatres and Delivery Suites
    There are six operating theatre suites each consisting of two major and one minor theatres. In addition there are two delivery suites for maternity cases.

    Out-Patients' Service
    Specialist out-patient and follow up services are provided in the L Block Consultation Suites and QEH Specialist Clinic which is located in a separate building near the main hospital. Patients are referred in from private practitioners and other Government Clinics for specialist consultation and/or treatment or admission to hospital
