General Information Surgical Patients QEH

On Admission
  • Please show your follow-up card and X-ray cards so we can quickly retrieve your records for reference.
  • Please change to hospital supplied clothings for your protection
  • We would arrange a bed for you according to observation and treatment needs

    Your belongings
  • Please bring some personal items like towel, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, tissue paper, toilet paper, slippers, comb, razor and thermos flask for your personal use.
  • Do not keep valuables or large amounts of money with you. If really necessary, please contact the nurses on duty for safe custody of valuables.

    Meals
  • We provide meals which include breakfast, lunch, dinner and bedtime snacks.
  • The meal time is around:
  • Please consult ward staff if you perfer to take your own meals
  • Please inform ward staff for any special meals requirements out of religious or customary needs.

    Visiting Hours
  • 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily
  • Please limit to 2 visitors only, children under age of 12 are not recommended
  • Please consult ward staff for visiting arrangement in special circumstances
  • Only very limited parking space available in Hospital complex, please use public transportation for access to hospital
  • A shuttle minibus route runs between Jordan MTR station (Nan King Street) and the Hospital

    Doctors' round
  • Monday to Friday: around 8:15 am and 3:30 pm
  • Saturday, Sundays & Public Holidays: Morning round only
  • Patients should stay in wards during the doctors' round
  • Visitors please wait outside the wards during the round

    Phone usage & smoking
  • Public telephones are available in the lift lobby and main lobby
  • Please switch off your wireless phones inside the wards to avoid interference to medical equipments
  • No smoking within the hospital premises
  • Photo taking is prohibited

    Home leave and discharge against medical advice
  • Subject to the medical condition, patient may apply for home leave during the hospital stay to handle urgent matters
  • Please inform the ward staff if you want to leave the hospital before you are fit for discharge.

    Referral and transfers
  • Patients may be referred to other departments depending on medical needs.
  • Patients may be transferred to convalescent hospitals like Kowloon Hospital and Buddlist Hospital

    Discharge
  • Please note your follow-up date and time and any special appointments
  • Keep all the documents and appointment cards for future reference
  • Please tell us if you need sick-leave certificate
